THE RIGHT ANGLE CONSPIRACY

I think the right angle is overrated. That’s why I will to counteract
its oppressive dominance with my art project „NOT 90“.

In my collection „Components“ I have already started to break through this tendency. I definitely need to develop and strengthen this further.

Details about the project and more pictures will follow.
Stay tuned!

About my Drawings

I began to draw with ink and feather during my studies in the nineties. I soon began to ask myself important questions in reference to some of the drawings which I tried to comprehend. I have still not been able to give a satisfactory answer to these questions. I have named the search for these answers: „The study of the line in itself“. (philosophy is a hobby of mine and so the name is therefore dose to me…)

The Questions:

What dissects the line? The space. And then what…? Is it now two spaces or still one – but split? And when the space consist of more lines, what is there to see: lines or spaces? Are they separated or do they belong together? Besides that a line can be thick or thin. If it is thick is it then still a line or does it transform into a space? Questions, questions…
Meanwhile I continue to draw…

All my drawings are the „results“ of my „The study of the line in itself“ – so I call my art way. I arrange them in some sections, witch I’m trying to discover, like „Organoids“, „Mechanoids“, „Field Studies“, „Stonegardens“, „Networks“, „Plain“ or „Components“.

When I draw, I try to create the abstract structures witch are free from fixed semantic meanings or references – and make so the interpretation of this artwork depending of the viewer of the drawing. It is my intention – this sematic ambiguity gives the observer the posibility to decide about the meanning of the artwork, to make an own personal interpretation and on this way to take part in the creative process.

I prefer to use very reduced medium, mostly only black and red ink on white paper and pen and my drawings are looking through this technique very clear and accurate. In our rashly wold it is always a nice view and good for a change and relaxing.
